SANTA FE COMBO
Step back to September 21, 1995, Santa Fe's last full day of independent
operations before its merger with Burlington Northern. Days prior to that
milestone, Pentrex set out on an oddyssey across America's heartland to document
the final chapter of this historic railroad:
-
Across the Heartland: Santa Fe's Chillicothe
Subdivision - Stretching from the greater Chicago area to Fort Madison,
Iowa, lies the Chillicothe Sub, a double-tracked ribbon of rail that was
home to Santa Fe's hottest trains. Flashy Warbonnets leading high-speed trains
are seen at favorite spots such as McCook Junction, Streator, and Edelstein
Hill - the line's most famous location.
-
Countdown to Merger: Santa Fe's Marceline
Subdivision - Six days prior to the merger with Burlington Northern,
Pentrex set off to record the last moments of Santa Fe's independence
by tracing the action on the Marceline Sub from Fort Madison, Iowa, to Kansas
City, Missouri.
169 minutes, color. Pentrex $29.95 DVD ONLY
-
SANTA FE SWAN SONG
See unusual street running in several Western cities, plus branches, locals
and spectacular mainline views. GE's EMDs, cars, coaches and cabooses fill
your screen. We conclude with a tribute to the 18-mile branch from Lamy to
Santa Fe, New Mexico. See now-extinct diesel favorites including Kodachromes
in action, and ride a dome car over Santa Fe passenger routes through the
southwest, including Raton, Glorietta, Tehachapi, and Cajon.

-
SANTA FE VINTAGE WEST
We bring back the Santa Fe with great action in many So. Cal. locations.
This parade of power over the decades is a tribute to one of the most popular
western railroads of all time. The scenes are taken from old movie film shot
by many railfans. The material from the early 90s was shot on video before
the end of the Santa Fe as an independent company. The paint schemes shown
are all the phases from the early black with white stripes and beautiful
passenger F-units with freight bluebonnet power and the later yellow bonnets.
The video of the 90s shows a revival of the red and silver warbonnet theme
that the Santa Fe used to reclaim all the public recognition that their service
deserved.

SOUTHERN PACIFIC CAB FORWARD COLLECTION: The Complete
Story of Southern Pacific's Mighty 4-8-8-4 Articulated Locomotives
For nearly 47 years, the Southern Pacific Railroad relied upon its massive
AC-type steam locomotives to haul freight and passenger trains throughout
California and neighboring states. Built to provide the power and flexibility
demanded by the mountainous passes they traversed, these giants were constructed
with their cab in front of the boiler, thus earning them the name 'cab forwards'.
On this DVD, you'll see cab forwards in service on the Overland Route, the
San Joaquin Line, the Sunset Route, the Coast Route, the Shasta Route, and
the Modoc Line.
